Separate three kinds of statements

Original project evidence map
Statement typeExampleWhat to record
Observed inputA figure from a named public reportSource, period and definition
AssumptionA chosen discount rate for the exerciseReason and sensitivity
CalculationNPV from the stated cash flowsReproducible formula and inputs
InterpretationWhy the two plans differLink to the calculation and limitations

Make the strength of the conclusion fit the evidence

A calculated sensitivity shows what the chosen model does when an input changes. It does not demonstrate that the input will change in the real world. Keep the conclusion attached to the evidence that supports it.

Check the note from another reader’s perspective

Can a reader find the source period, units, assumptions and calculation without asking you? If not, revise those parts. The aim is an inspectable learning project rather than a longer document.

Use shareable material

Use original synthetic examples or public sources you can cite. Remove confidential employer or client material from a public work sample. Identify the work as a personal project and preserve any necessary source-use conditions.
