Calling residual standard error the error of beta

The tool’s residual standard error is in response-return units, while a slope standard error concerns the coefficient.

Read the original residual quantity

The original five-period fit gives residual standard error √(1.2/3)≈0.632456 percentage points. This estimates a response-error scale under the usual model interpretation; it is not itself a beta uncertainty amount.

Retain the extra coefficient calculation

Under the conventional homoskedastic straight-line assumptions, slope standard error uses residual scale divided by √Sxx. It has the slope’s unit structure rather than the response-return unit alone. The calculator does not report a significance test or interval.

Use the requested model and assumptions

Do not read a residual number as a confidence interval for beta or as a forecast loss bound. Identify the inference task, degrees of freedom and relevant assumptions before using coefficient or prediction formulas.
