Using total private value as cash received

A total-value ratio combines distributed and remaining value; it is not a statement that all value has been paid out.

Locate the unsupported cash interpretation

The original record has P = 100, D = 40 and V = 110. A summary that says the investor received 150 in cash treats the residual mark as another distribution. The actual supplied distributed component is 40.

Report the two components

DPI is 0.4× and RVPI 1.1×. Their total 1.5× remains useful, but the record’s form matters for liquidity and realized-outcome questions.

Add an actual transaction when needed

A later sale of the remaining interest would need its realized price, timing and costs. It could transform residual into cash, but that event is absent from the current record. Do not insert it by relabeling the ratio.

Review the underlying fields

Check whether the summary used NAV, distributions, sale proceeds or total value. Similar-looking numbers can answer different questions. Keep the original data labels in any correction.
