Discount-curve reconciliation checklist

Reconcile the schedule, factors and original prices before interpreting a curve valuation.

Inspect the dates

Write the valuation date and every coupon and redemption date. Confirm whether a forward has a future start and identify its actual tenor. Mark fractional payment dates requiring a supplied factor or interpolation rule.

Check the quantity labels

FieldQuestion
RateEffective, nominal, simple or continuous?
FactorWhich date and valuation origin?
CouponPeriodic amount or annual quoted rate?
PriceComplete cash-flow value or a clean-price convention?
ForwardAnnualized rate or total interval growth?

Reconstruct independent identities

Reprice each bootstrap input from the solved factors. Multiply successive forward factors to recover the cumulative factor. Return a future-date value to today and compare with direct payment discounting. These identities expose different errors from repeating the same spreadsheet entry.

Separate what has been checked

Passing the arithmetic checks establishes consistency with the entered schedule and curve. It does not verify future cash flows, credit quality, market execution or a forecast. Keep unresolved assumptions next to the reported price rather than hiding them in a rate label.
