Loss-quantile to tail-average study sequence

Use one original model to connect VaR, expected shortfall, event probabilities and joint-loss reasoning.

On this page

Begin with signs and a cumulative table

Read the loss-sign lesson, record the common period and unit, then build the original cumulative table. Locate the lower 90% and exact 95% crossings and explain why they are both 10.

Add the selected-mass bridge

Calculate the worst 10% average and check the 5%/5% inclusion split. Compare it with strict and inclusive threshold averages before calling those definitions interchangeable.

Use a task progression

Progression evidence
TaskEvidence of understanding
QuantileStated rule and first crossing
Expected shortfallExact mass and denominator reconcile
Sample rankEqual-weight convention stated
AggregationJoint probabilities constructed
CommunicationModel scope and unresolved data retained

Review causes rather than a score alone

Use the three original practice sets, retain the reason behind any incorrect choice and revisit the relevant example. Completion does not certify official syllabus coverage, professional competence or a pass outcome.
