Record checks and unresolved evidence
The CSV provides review questions rather than a matrix solver. It includes the three-asset −0.8 counterexample and an equal-weight negative-variance finding. Replace the example with your model’s evidence and retain unresolved questions.
Review the joint record
| Check | Evidence to retain |
|---|---|
| Symmetry | Mirrored covariance entries match |
| Diagonal | Nonnegative own variances |
| Pair domain | Correlations within bounds when defined |
| Joint coherence | Positive-semidefinite assessment for the whole matrix |
| Observation basis | Dates, missing values and estimators |
| Result status | Accepted assumption or unresolved inconsistency |
Use a failed check appropriately
A weight vector producing negative variance disproves coherence. A vector producing positive variance does not prove coherence for all vectors. In the supplied example, equal weights produce −0.2 even though every individual correlation is in range.
Resolve the model before using its outputs
Review inconsistent estimation inputs or obtain an appropriate matrix analysis. The public pair calculator does not certify this larger-matrix worksheet. The download is a static evidence record, not a guarantee that recorded inputs are valid.
