Return valuations and external-flow log

A reproducible return record distinguishes investment change from dated owner transfers.

Use the sample as a record

The editable CSV contains the original 100→110, 90 deposit, 200→180 example. It records event time, value before transfer, external flow, value after transfer and the resulting subperiod base. It is a log rather than a date-aware return-solving engine.

Keep the transfer perspective consistent

The sample uses positive flows for capital entering the account and negative flows for capital leaving. An investor-perspective money-weighted schedule uses the opposite signs for contributions. Preserve the declared perspective rather than mixing columns from the two conventions.

Reconcile each event

Value after transfer should equal value before transfer plus the signed account flow under this immediate-transfer model. Record distributions generated by the investments separately from external capital. A missing valuation should remain blank and unresolved.

Add the period and cost definitions

Retain actual dates, currency, income inclusion and costs for a real record. The demonstration uses fictional equal-year events and contains no personal account data. Review any approximation chosen when transfer-side values are unavailable.
