Explain an option-payoff record in an interview

An analyst explanation should identify the contract expression and then show what its costs and assumptions change.

Use an original analyst prompt

The interviewer supplies one long call: strike 100, premium 6, terminal scenario 103 and 100 units per contract. They ask whether the in-the-money position earned a profit and whether its diagram is a current option-price model.

Reconstruct the amount and its label

Holder payoff is 3 per unit, giving 300 for one contract. Premium cost is 600, so simple unfinanced position profit is −300. The in-the-money classification relates to payoff, while cost determines the simple profit result.

Keep confidence attached to the evidence

A precise calculation can coexist with missing facts for another question. Explain the known result and the boundary rather than converting a hypothetical expiry graph into a valuation or trading recommendation. This is original practice, not a report of a named employer’s interview.
