Reviewing errors in a finance exam vignette

Track the case detail you used, the detail required and the rule that links it to the answer.

Map the question to its evidence

For each question in a practice vignette, identify the requested output and the relevant paragraph or table. In an illustrative valuation case, distinguish a year-end cash flow from an immediate payment and a nominal annual yield from a periodic rate.

Record the retrieval mistake precisely

Confused rate conventionsAnnual or periodic labelConvert the rate and payment count together

Explain the link between evidence and method

Underlining a number is incomplete if the reason for using it is unclear. Write a sentence explaining how that figure answers the question’s request. If the explanation fails, revisit the underlying concept rather than only improving highlighting.

Test on another case

Choose a different vignette that contains the same distinction in a different location. This checks whether you can identify the required information without remembering the position of the previous answer.
