Check what was actually completed
Compare your previous plan with notes, solved examples and recorded questions. Separate topics you learned, topics you only opened and topics you never started. Treat a checked box without an accompanying output as something to investigate.
Try a representative task without notes
Choose one task from a previously studied topic and one from an unfinished topic. For example, explain the bond price–yield relationship and calculate an NPV sequence. Record where you needed help rather than treating the diagnostic as an exam score.
| Category | Evidence | Next action |
|---|---|---|
| Retained | Can explain and apply on a fresh task | Schedule a later check |
| Partly retained | Recognise the idea but cannot execute | Target the missing step |
| Unfinished | No completed explanation or application | Allocate a learning block |
Restart from the required prerequisite
If an NPV task fails because the period convention is unclear, review the timing convention before adding a larger valuation problem. This keeps the new plan tied to a specific gap.
Recalculate the remaining workload
Use the new inventory to estimate hours still needed. Keep time for practice and review in the estimate. The elapsed break does not itself tell you how much knowledge remains, and the old calendar may no longer describe your available time.
