A zero emissions baseline and change

An increase from zero emissions does not have a finite ordinary percentage change against that baseline.

State the fictional levels

Prior emissions are zero with denominator 10. Current emissions are 10 tCO2e with denominator 15. Both denominators are positive and use the same stated unit.

Identify the undefined expressions

Emissions percentage change would divide by prior emissions zero. Relative intensity change would divide by prior intensity zero. Neither becomes 100% simply because the new amount is positive.

Keep unavailable results from becoming zeros

The trend calculator omits the undefined percent values and prior-100 chart, while displaying the defined levels. Its behavior makes the missing mathematical quantity explicit rather than inventing a rounded zero.
