Private-capital measurement learning sequence

Begin with compatible inputs, then examine the different questions answered by value, cash and return-rate measures.

On this page

Start with a dated transaction map

Use the original record to distinguish contributions, distributions and reporting NAV. Explain the investor sign perspective and keep the fund-to-investment schedule separate. Document one selected basis before dividing amounts.

Reconcile all three multiples

Calculate the original 100/40/110 case in the tool and check DPI+RVPI = TVPI. Then pool the unequal fund records using amounts and paid-in weights. Explain why commitment and net capital are different denominators.

Investigate isolated movements

Inspect the contribution-only case, distribution/residual transfer and residual mark-down. Trace which components changed and distinguish ratio movement from a new monetary gain. Review the missing-NAV case without inserting a zero.

Finish with timing and interpretation

Compare one terminal multiple over two horizons, then inspect the call-first liquidity path. Complete both explained practice sets and retain the transaction and basis logs for unresolved definitions. The sequence has no guaranteed study-hour or exam-outcome claim.
